They do things to promote better engagement and more views of the videos.

So above any of the technical things you need to do to optimize your channel,
I think it’s important to note that the best way to optimize your channel —  is to have good quality content that provides value.
This should be first and foremost, everything else should then just fall into place.
If you do that first, you’ll automatically start getting more subscribers, more views and make more money.
Now on to the more technical side…
Today, I want to highlight 4 technical things you can do to optimize your youtube channel to rank on Google and Youtube..
  1. Add Channel Art
Your channel art is the banner that goes on top of the page of your channel….
Here is an example –  the optimal size YouTube wants you to use is 2560 x 1440 (minimum size is:  2048 x 1152)
The banner is prime real estate that you can use to inform your viewers of anything important you want them to know
or just using it for having some calls to action — such as subscribing to your channel or reminding them to click the notify bell to get alerted when your videos get published.
  1. About Tab
This is not be the most visible part of your channel,
but it’s a good opportunity to optimize your channel to let Google and visitors know what your page is about.
You are also able to include your email, and links to your website and social media.
  1. Include a Featured Video or Channel Trailer
When setting up your channel, you have the option to use a featured video or channel trailer,
this is a great opportunity to let people who are not yet subscribers to know what your channel is all about.
Here is an example….
Be sure to use the description box to include information about what your channel is about,
this is not only good for your visitors but also is good optimization for YouTubes algorithm.
You should make this anywhere from 100 – 500 words
I would also recommend putting a CTA that links out to your lead magnet or website –
it’s a really visible part of the page and gets lots of exposure.
  1. Create Playlists
Playlists really help organize your site and makes it easier for users to navigate — and Google love this.
So a playlist is basically just grouping videos with a similar theme or topic.
Remember from SEO point of view, more engagement is good,
and if you make it easier for users to find topics they are interested in, they are more likely to click on it and this helps you rank
