In this article, I’m going to talk about how to make money on youtube without showing your face on camera even if you are a complete newbie…
I know you must be thinking how is this even possible? Well stayed tuned because, I’m going to show you exactly how you can do it beginner or not.
There are actually lots of different ways to create youtube videos and the best method really depends on what your channel is about, your audience and what you are trying to sell.
It’s important to plan your strategy for making money with Youtube before making your videos, and in a moment, I will share the absolute best strategy to monetize your videos on youtube, but for now lets dive into my top 5 ways to create video without showing your face on camera.
If you’ve been on youtube for awhile, I am sure you have seen this method before. Many times, you see someone at the bottom of the screen, but the thing is you do not have to show your face at all if you are not comfortable with the camera, you can simply just talk into the microphone and share whatever you like, whether it is a tutorial, video clips or just a simple slide show presentation.
If you want to establish added trust with “you” as the brand, you can always just show your face in the YouTube thumbnail, but that is not necessary if you don’t want to do that either.
For sharing your screen, I recommend Screenflow – If you are on a MAC… its relatively inexpensive and pretty easy to use. If you are on a PC, Camtasia is probably the best screen-recording tool to get. It comes with a really nice editor and its also available for Mac, but it is slightly more expensive. There are also some free options too such as loom.com, and you can just Google for other free option that are available.
2. Compilation Videos
This is simply when you use video footage that is already available and you mesh them all together so that you have a unique compelling video. This method is proven to work quite well — you can see a couple of examples of people making good money using this exact method by watching the video below:
The first example is a channel called People are Awesome:
It’s actually just a bunch of videos that people have posted online and they are monetizing it using merchandise, Adsense and affiliate promotions. They are making an estimated $4.7 to $75,000 per month and they did not film anything at all.
Another example is a channel called TechUpdate, again this channel is just using existing footage direct from the manufacturers website or you can find these types of ads on sites such as Amazon.com, Kickstarter.com and Indigogo.com
This site is making an estimated $900 to $15,000 per month
If you are interested in doing this strategy, the only thing I would advise is looking further to make sure what you’re doing doesn’t violate any copyrights.
3. Explainer Videos / Animation
If you are computer savvy, you can get DIY software that will allow you to create different types of animation videos, including white board animation and explainer videos. A few of the more popular software for this is Explaindio.com , Doodly. and Toonly.com, these are all good options, and can be relatively inexpensive. Keep in mind, there is a bit of a learning curve as with anything new.
In the video, I show some examples of channels that are using animation and making money on youtube without filming videos.
The first site is FightMediocrity, this site has 1.19 Million subscribers despite just showing explainer videos. I believe the only time he shows his face is on his Youtube profile — and I’m not even sure if thats the owner of the channel.
The next site that uses animation type videos is The Journey – It has over 69,000 subscribers and as you can see the channel is made up of only of animated videos and it makes money using google Adsense and affiliate marketing. Many of the videos are only about a minute long and this could be a good way to go if you like being creative.
4. Disguising Yourself
Ok this one may sound funny, but have you ever heard of Dr. Disrespect on Twich? Well, he is one of the most popular streamers on Twich as a gamer. He also has a YouTube channel with over 800k subscribers. On both platforms, he’s on camera, but he wears a disguise using a wig, sunglasses and mustache. Of course, this may not be for everyone, but it just goes to show you literally do not have to show yourself on camera to make money on youtube.
Hee has 1.5 M subscribers in his channel… if you visit his channel, you’ll see he is on camera but nobody can tell who it is. He is bringing in an estimated 2 to 32k per month
Finally, the 5th way to make money on youtube without being on camera is simply by using another type of DIY software, but it does not use animation, instead it uses stock, video clips, images, and audio. Its pretty amazing. Now there a few of these out there on the market, but the one I personally use and love is Vidnami (foremerly Content samurai)… Let me know you what it does…
5. Vidnami (Content Samurai)
This software is extremely easy to use and you basically, just add your text for the video, and the software automatically picks images and video clips for you. You can totally customize it by adding your own images or video clips if you like.
An example of a channel that uses this software is Natures Cures, it has almost 3 million subscribers and its bringing in somewhere between 1.6k and 24.7k per month and it is really easy to use.
